about

1680 was the year in which the romanesque church of Sta. Eugènia de Relat (Avinyó, Catalonia) was restored for the first time. The church was built in the 11th century.

Saxophonist and clarinetist Marcel•lí Bayer (Barcelona, 1982) chosed the church, with surrounding acoustic characteristics, to record 1680 (Discordian Records, 2014), his third album as a leader after the multi-awarded Nonitz featuring Lee Konitz (Quadrant Records, 2011) and Les Narrations (Whatabout Music, 2013).

In 1680 we can listen to 25 original short pieces written for all types of saxophones and clarinets with that place in mind.
